Endorses Destiny Hallenbeck for Chatham Town Board
CHATHAM, NY - Today the United States Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced his endorsement of Destiny Hallenbeck for Chatham Town Board.
Senator Schumer offered strong words of support for Hallenbeck, saying, "I am proud to stand with Destiny in her bid for Chatham Town Board. I've worked with Destiny firsthand as the leader of New York College Democrats and can attest to her intelligence, drive, and passion to better her community. We need young people like Destiny Hallenbeck to stand up and run for office at every level of government. I am impressed with Destiny's commitment to expanding rural broadband access, affordable housing, and wiping out poverty in rural spaces. I hope you will join me in supporting Destiny Hallenbeck and I look forward to celebrating her victory on November 2nd."
Destiny Hallenbeck responded to Senator Schumer’s endorsement by adding “I am deeply honored to have Senator Schumer’s support. His commitment to rural New York, our local governments, and supporting the next generation of leaders is inspiring. I look forward to serving on the Chatham Town Board and working with our local, state, and federal delegation to improve the lives of those in Chatham as well as New Yorkers across the state.”
Destiny Hallenbeck is a lifelong Columbia County resident running for Chatham Town Board. She graduated from Chatham High in 2018 and currently attends Union College where she is expected to receive her bachelor’s degree in History in June of 2022. She currently serves on the Chatham School Board of Education, which she was elected to in May of 2020. Formerly, she served as the President of the College Democrats of New York.
